Husband and wife team John Michael and Kimmy Durr run Durr Eventing and Showjumping in Tryon, NC and Ocala, FL.
John Michael has been competing successfully in Three-Day Eventing, Show Jumping, and Hunters for over a decade, developing horses to the upper levels and achieving top results. As an ICP Certified Instructor, John Michael enjoys training riders and horses of all levels. Frequenting at HITS Ocala as well as Tryon International Equestrian Center, John Michael always has eyes on him. When he earned his Level 4 ICP Certification, he was the youngest to ever do so. On top of all of that, JM is also an FEI Eventing ‘Level Two’ Course Designer.
Kimmy Durr is one of the most diverse equestrians you may meet. Growing up, she lived on an Arabian breeding farm in California participating in rodeos, gymkhanas, and barrel racing before switching over to Three-Day Eventing. Kimmy developed and produced her first horse, Pikture This, from the Intro level to the Three-Star level (now four-star); and in 2014 and 2015, they were selected to participate in the USEF Developing Rider/Eventing 25 Program. This opportunity was an instrumental experience in Kimmy’s growth as an equestrian on her way to becoming a professional rider. After moving to the East Coast from California, Kimmy continued to expand her equestrian profile by venturing into the Jumper and Hunter world while still competing in Dressage and Eventing. In addition to her active riding career, Kimmy developed a fondness towards Dressage and began focusing more of her attention on honing the fine art of Dressage. Currently, Kimmy competes at the highest level in all disciplines, which includes competing at the 3* and 4* levels of Eventing. On top of her impressive competition record, Kimmy now holds an ‘r’ Dressage judging license as well.
